SEP
Abstract
Search Engine Promotion,
or SEP, is a delineation of the efforts required for success on the
Internet. The Discussion section below conveys the general
practice of SEP.
Discussion
Search Engine Promotion
[SEP] is not a term you are likely to see anywhere else on the
Internet. If one closely examines the different approaches to
bringing a particular web site, or pages within a web site, forward
to the public, one will see that there are structural elements
within the site [SEO], strict advertising efforts for the site [SEM]
and a range of other online, and perhaps offline or offline/online
together, efforts that help 'get the word out.' We call these
efforts Search Engine Promotion.
For Seonometrics™
we consider, as an example, link building to be an inherently
promotional activity whereas many consider it SEM-related
work. We believe the clean distinction in activities allows us
to more closely focus on the end goal of that activity. As
such, we have developed SEP for enhanced customer service.
In
addition to linking strategies, SEP can involve a wide variety of
approaches. For example, assuring that your domain name is
listed on written correspondence, such as letterhead, business card,
in email text, in your offline advertising, etc. are all promotion
of your website. Coupling an online survey to a radio ad
similar to how television news stations cite their online polls is
another promotion method.
Other
promotional techniques can include Press Releases and traditional
Public Relations techniques. For example, in writing a press
release, do you create one version of a press release with many
keywords and release it online or do you create a more traditional
press release that may be more readily accepted by news
authorities?
Promotion of your web site is promotion of you. There are no
boundaries on how creative we can be in developing new approaches to
building your identity and reputation.
