Web Design

Your website design should be different from other web sites only because your goals and needs are likely to be different.  "Good" website design is based on many elements such as:

  • use of color

  • aesthetic design elements

  • functionality

  • navigation

  • converting visitors

Each of the above aspects must each tie together with the purpose and goals of your website.  What works for an upscale car dealer in Los Angeles will not work for an Interior Design Firm in Chicago and that will not work for a Technology company in Austin.

Depending on your web site needs you will also find that there are many options from a basic presence to E-Commerce to multi-lingual, multi-faceted, database driven sites.  Each with its own level of complexity and cost.

As a starter, many people may opt for a website template.  There are many high quality templates that can be purchased for under $100 that will help you get your web site started.  Those templates provide a professional layout, but do not provide for logo design, SEO, SEM, SEP or any of the other services you will likely need.  Similarly, for many E-Commerce needs, a more straightforward method of starting is use of a template.  Because of the complexities involved in E-Commerce, you will find good templates ranging from $100 to $300 [and sometimes more].  Again, this cost is just for the template and no extra design work, customization, SEO, SEM, database loading or other elements of a successful E-Commerce launch.

A good web site designer will match the needs and experience of the end user, your customer, to the requirements of the of successful search engine listings [SEO] and within the confines of the coding language(s) [e.g., HTML] available.  Web design on the Internet is at least one part science and one part art.
